So, who doesn’t love a nice down jacket? My problem had always been that down jackets were big and puffy and when people wear them, although warm, look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. And because they are so bulky don’t pack well. I came across this jacket in a forum somewhere, I don’t remember exactly where.
The Patagonia Down Sweater, as opposed to a “jacket,” is perfect for warmth without being too big and bulky. And because it is down it also packs down to nothing and only weighs a few ounces – great for traveling! It’s makes a great middle layer, too because of the compression. I can spend most of the day outside in 30s temperature with no problem. Mind you, it’s not waterproof, so you’ll need to put a shell over it if it starts raining.
I picked this up at Amazon for $199.
